Bass Fuzz: Taking a Break (from Breaking Stuff)

So, I’ve not made much progress of the fuzz pedal. For one, everything’s breaking apart!

It started with the potentiometers. I’ve probably broken like, 10 different pots in my short career. I asked some fellows on Reddit for help, and I’ve apparently been soldering on to the more delicate parts of the potentiometers. …..

In one session, I managed to fry not one, but TWO 3PDT footswitches in a row. They were my last two, too, so now I’ve got to wait for a new one. These things are literally more fragile than my ego, and I hate the way their lugs are so compact.

My dad reckons that our soldering iron is too hot, and he’s getting me a heat-controlled one. But I’ll be sad if I have to part ways with it, because it’s a family heirloom. Yes, an heirloom that’s rusted and burns people. It was passed down from my grandfather, to my father, and to me!

So, I guess I’ve got to wait for my new solder to arrive too.

Oh. I burned my left index finger because it was getting in the way. At least I can finally brag at having survived 400C weather.

TLDR: Waiting for components. I’m not going to build anytime soon.
